Laura Fitzgerald, P45, 2017; HD video, short version, 16 min.

Along with an extract from the film P45, we present an experimental and collaborative critique, designed to engage the reader with the work, and to compliment and to respond to, the film P45. It was written by Jennifer Redmond and self-reflectively reacted to, by Laura Fitzgerald.
Critiques on an artists’ work are normally published in gallery catalogues or art journals where they have an esoteric  readership. Along with the intended ‘gift‘ to the artist of the written text, we are questioning the critique format, and asking ‘qui bono?’ ‘who benefits?’ from the critique. and what might such a piece of writing become?
